Lush Ice

Lush-ice

Louise loves a cold ice cream on a hot day, which is just about every day in the Top End. She combined that with her passion for healthy, local organic ingredients Lush-ice was born. With a dozen varieties of hand made popsicles and more in the works, there's surely something there to tickle your taste-buds.

There are some interesting conconctions in there, including lemongrass lime basil, watermelon hibiscus mint, mango strawberry and pink lemonade. There's even an iced coffee one in there, made from locally brewed Sailor's Brew cold drip (my favourite!).

She makes them all herself using mostly items from Rapid Creek Markets and Greenies Real Foods, conveniently located a short walk from her home. It's packed with the freshest and the bestest as anyone who has been to the markets on a Sunday will attest too. All the ingredients that go into them are natural and organic and sealed in individual plastic wraps. Louise has quite the factoring going on at her home from what I saw when I went to pick up my batch.

The family and I tried these on a particularly hot weekend and boy were they appreciated. We sucked and slurped and delicately bit these colourful treats, savouring the fresh vibrant flavours whilst giving ourselves brain freezes. I certainly could taste the flavours of the ingredients which was really refreshing. These things are so cool with no guilt!! Happy faces all around :)

Global warming is on the rise guys, combat it with a Lush-ice popsicle or five. Go grab one from Louise's stand at the Parap markets on Saturday morning for $4 a pop.
