Spicy Indian curry for a Friday lunch treat

Edit: These guys have moved to Stokes Hill Wharf

Beef vindaloo and chicken korma from 'OM Indian Cuisine' in Centre Point Arcade, Darwin City Mall

Friday lunchtime usually means I treat myself with something nice and yummy after having eaten relatively healthy-ish food for the previous 4 working days. I do love a good curry and OM Indian Cuisine in the Centre Point Arcade, Smith Street Mall, provides the goods on this occasion. Owner Sunil Kumar is a very nice chap who bares a passing resemblance to Sachin Tendulkar. I told him that a while ago and he responded by offering me his autograph for $10 - no thanks, but I will pay you for some curry! The butter chicken, beef vindaloo and lamb rogan josh are the best dishes on offer. I've tried the fish curry once before and it was really salty to say the least, perhaps it was a bad day.

The prices are on par with the other Asian takeaways which is quite good considering the amount of meat and ingredients involved present. If you choose to dine in you can opt for the big Thali combo which is a giant tray of everything with a drink which represents good value for money. You'll need the drink as well as some of the dishes have a bit of kick to them. The curries themselves aren't up to Hanuman or Saffrron standard but you won't need to take out a bank loan to afford it and most importantly it's a tasty and very filling lunchtime eat. Check it out if you haven't already.
