When it comes to fruit and vegetables in Darwin, Coles and Woolworths have the range and the price, the markets have cheap Asian vegetables, and the corner store offers convenience at a price. For me, Fresh Produce Market next to the NT Oriental Emporium on Bagot Road is a mixture of all three - it has all the usual suspects plus a few more, the prices are good (sometimes really good) and they're 2 minutes from my place. One time I bought the freshest green beans I've ever laid my hands on from this place, although on todays visit they were just OK. However, they'd still be better than the ones you'd find at the aforementioned supermarkets. This is what these guys are good at - having fresh stuff on the shelf. Now not everything will be in mint condition, fruit and vegies unfortunately being suspect to decomposition, but overall it's very good.
