Ming Court – Tasty chinese food.

Ming Court Restaurant - San Choy Bau

Ming Court at the Jingili shops was the chosen place for dinner tonight, another entry to the list of dodgy exterior, not to flash interior Asian restaurant at the corner shop. Although come to think of it, you wouldn't describe many suburban street corner takeaway/café/restaurants as flashy. Additionally to that, the kitchen at Ming Court is possibly bigger than the dine-in and take-away areas combined, pretty funny if you ask me. The menu is a carbon copy of any other Chinese restaurant, with the usual suspects appearing in various combinations. Interestingly, they also have a large pizza menu with the regular choices plus a series of Asian flavoured ones. There's also one hilariously called "The Trash Can" – hopefully that's not where the ingredients come from.

Ming Court Restaurant - Chicken with mushrooms and vegetables

I'll have to go back to try the pizza one day, but tonight we had san choy bau (pork mince in a cup of lettuce, $12.50 for two), chicken with mushroom and vegetable stir-fry ($14.50) and mapo bean curd ($13.50). I thought the servings were very generous for the price, you'd be paying twice as much at the fancier Chinese restaurants around town for the exact same dishes. So if you feel like Chinese for dinner but don't feel like getting dressed up, don't want to spend too much money, don't want the noise, but do want something tasty, then head on down to your local dodgy looking Asian restaurant tonight!
