Cadbury Dark Cherry Ripe

I'm not much of a sweet tooth, but if I was to name my favourite chocolate bar, it'd be cherry ripe. Dark-ish chocolate with a hint of coconut goodness. The cherries are just filler for the aforementioned I reckon because they don't really taste like cherries. So with all the sexy posters of dark cherry ripe littered on every surface and wall, it was only a matter of time before curiosity got the better of me. Well if I must be honest, my chicky babe saw me ogling the stack of cherry ripes at the Woolies checkout and put it in the basket. How nice of her.

Hopping onto the Cadbury website to check out the specs of this new flavour, it seems the dark chocolate coating remains the same but the centre has "dark cherrry with a more mature flavour". Whatever that means. I had a bite and couldn't really tell a big difference in flavour, certainly not enough to create a whole new label for it. Maybe they're just old out of date regular cherry ripes and the marketing boffins at Cadbury have devised a clever way to sell them.

Taste wise, it isn't as sweet as the original (not by much) with a hint of rum ball flavour in there. Or maybe I'm just saying that because one of the chicks in the office has been buying them every few days and passing them around like crack. I think I'll need to get another bar for a second opinion.
