Souvlaki Grill and Chill

Souvlaki Grill and Chill - The Hellas

Another Darwin yiros gig... or so I thought. I popped my head into The Souvlaki Grill and Chill in Nightcliff and was pleasantly surprised by a very slick setup with plenty of staff and goodies to cover your breakfast, lunch and dinner needs. This is no ordinary yiros/souvlaki/kebab joint my friends. For starters in the ultimate fusion of Aussie and Greek cuisine,  there's a breakfast yiros with bacon and egg. Then there's some kick ass stuff like the almighty Hellas which has chips in it! But if that doesn't tickle your fancy, try the Hawaiian, the Mexican or you can be safe and go for a the traditional meat and salad variety. Whatever you choose I'm sure you'll be pleased.

The lamb in 'The Hellas' I ordered was tender and full of flavour and the tzatziki sauce can still be smelt on my breath days later. Hella awesome and quite possibly the best I've tasted (the chips were very influential in making that call), it pooped all over the one I had elsewhere a few weeks ago - twice over.

There are also Greek style sausages, fried pork belly, a selection of burgers and stuff for the kids too. Dessert is taken care of by a variety of fancy ice creams, shakes, cakes and Greek pastries. Although I'm not sure how you could fit any of that in after devouring a mammoth 9 inch yiros (you can also choose a more waist friendly 6 inch version).

No stone is left unturned at the Souvlaki Grill and Chill. And that's the way it would have to be seeing as they're sandwiched in between the behemoths of fast food - Subway and Domino's. But they seem to be doing very well given the amount of customers they're getting. Half the menu is under ten bucks too which is further icing on the cake. Cheap tasty food with fast service, I'll definitely be back for sure. Opa!!!
