Laneway Specialty Coffee

Laneway specialty coffee After last week's appalling visit to the local pound, the husband and sobby me headed into Parap, a suburb just outside the town area. On Saturday it's bustling with a market - local Asian delights line up the streets, smelling and selling all sorts of delicious meals. It's a little craft market too, along the windy walkways and back alleys. It sounds dodgy, but it's a gorgeous market that I wish I frequent more. Laneway specialty coffee This visit we made the point to diverge from the usual laksa and headed for the homely industrial shop home to Laneway Specialty Coffee. It is not very well sound proofed, so it is rather noisy to sit in for a nice meal. We sat along a communal bench and ordered free-range eggs and bacon baguette with tomato relish ($11), wagyu burger and Laneway Lemondade. I didn't quite expect what I received, but I was incredibly delighted! The bacon was perfectly caramelised and shredded into bite-sized yumminess, egg perfectly fried with orange yolk waiting to be cracked open and oozing like liquid gold. Bacon and egg baguette We ate, and left with a iced mocha in hand as well. I'm not a coffee drinker, but I think that cup of chocolately goodness has got me hooked. It had the perfect balance of choclate syrup, an expresso shot of Campos quality blend and cold milk... topped with *two* scoops of ice cream. I don't know anyone there personally but I think I'm in love. It was so much so that we had to visit them again yesterday. Wagyu Burger With food, I believe that consistency is key. Laneway disappointed husband and I a tab bit with fatty cuts of bacon, just coloured enough to render it cooked. Nothing of the calibre that I had the experience of the week before. It was still yummy, but not quite as enjoyable. Oh, they were not bite sized shreds of bacon. Biting into the baguette disassembled the sandwich and I had egg yolk ooze and bacon fat running down my arms. The iced coffee was not a let down though :) I can see why people rave about Laneway - personally I wouldn't sit indoors. I will go back definitely to claim iced coffees and maybe that lemon poppy seed muffin that I missed out on last.
