Stokes Hill Wharf

My family was in town on the weekend so I suggested we meet up somewhere casual and relaxed for a dinner – I figured Stokes Hill Wharf would be an OK spot for a quick meal and for the 2 nephews to run around.

Galleria Thai delights!

I've been meaning to review two lunchtime favourites for a while now, they are Healthy Noodle Salad Bar and Bangkok Delights in the Galleria. We are spoilt for choice when it comes to asian lunchtime...

Hogs Breath Cafe

With some overseas guests in town we wanted to show them great Aussie steak and we figured Hogs Breath Cafe would be a good place. Home of "the best steak in the galaxy" and "hogspitality", will they hold the flag tall and proud or would they bring shame upon our glorious country?

Casuarina Club - Dinner review

Enjoying my week off from work, we took some guests of ours to the Casuarina Club for a casual relaxed dinner. I've had some great steaks here on numerous occasions, but also the worst one I've ever had. Let's hope this visit will be a good one.

Melissa's Take Away - Roast pork sandwich

If you hear anybody calling the staff at Melissa's Take Away stingy, you have my permission to punch them in the face. That is all for now, I gotta go push the computer mouse around for another 4 hours before I can go home.

Prima Taste Laksa – it comes in a box

I'm making laksa, not from scratch, but from a box! I'll be using the Prima Taste Laksa sauce kit for todays little experiment. I did a review of their ba kut teh (pork rib soup) a few weeks back and was thoroughly impressed, so expectations are high-ish.

Ruby - Modern Vietnamese

Saturday night, the lady and I scrubbed up and headed out to dinner. Ruby at the top of the mall was the destination and Vietnamese was the cuisine. I've been here for lunch once before and was very happy with the food then, would dinner be as good?

Tracy Village Bistro

'Twas Friday night and Darwin Foodies has the Tracy Village Bistro on its radar. The lady, her family and I thought we'd check it out to see if the food was any better than the usual family outing at the Casuarina Club.

Bacon and Egg Chronicles: The Office

Since I've been working sooo hard this week, I thought I would reward myself and took a quick detour on the way to work to stop by The Office on Cavenagh Street. The mission was to check out the bacon and egg toastie, and for $7 it better be good.

Salt n Peppa Cafe Ristorante

Darwin Foodies have received a couple of recommendations about this place and their online menu indeed looked very drool-worthy. One chick said these guys do the best pasta in all of Darwin, even better than certain other fancy Italian places. Interesting claim indeed.

Roast and Noodle Bar

Way back when Darwin Foodies was first launched in April I reviewed Roast and Noodles in Anthony Plaza Arcade. These guys do the best Chinese roast pork belly in all the Top End if you ask me and on the weekend I tried the steamed chicken to see if it was as good as their pork.

Cadbury Dark Cherry Ripe. Join the dark side.

I'm not much of a sweet tooth, but if I was to name my favourite chocolate bar, it'd be cherry ripe. So with all the sexy posters of dark cherry ripe littered on every surface and wall, it was only a matter of time before curiosity got the better of me.

Bacon and Egg Chronicles: Xtreme Caffeine

Darwin's latest coffee shop/cafe to open, Xtreme Caffeine is all about"coffee the way it's meant to be - the way you like it". Today's mission though, is to find out if the bacon and egg toastie is any good.

Bak Kut Teh - Pork rib soup

A popular soup served in Malaysia, Singapore and China, Bak Kut Teh literally translates as 'meat bone tea'. In this case, the meat is pork ribs and the tea consists of a bucket load of herbs and spices I've never heard of.

The best laksa in town?

In all seriousness, I don't know how anyone could resist a sumptuously delicious bowl of laksa from Rendevous Cafe? As far as I am concerned it is the granddaddy of laksas in a city that has many "Best Laksa's in Town".

Dinner at The Deck Bar

After the lunch menu at The Deck bar got the overhaul, the dinner menu has just had the same Asian inspired treatment applied to it. Among many new additions to the menu, there's now a mouth watering variety of Asian tapas on offer.

Mitchelli's Pizza Cafe

The fellas at work and I stayed back for a round of Talisman today. It's a role playing board game where you each play as a character and take turns rolling the dice to go around the board kicking...

Chapel Lane Cafe

This groovy little cafe hasn't been open for long but they seem to have already gained a little following judging by the few times I've popped in for lunch. You'll find them sandwiched in between Go Sushi Train and Outback Jacks in the CBD. I'd describe them as a gourmet deli /cafe who cater for the lunch time crowd.
